I recently purchased a 2014 Altima and I get a musty odor when the AC is first turned on. The former owner never changed the cabin filter which I found out which doesn't help, but never had this issue in any car before. I've seen videos of people spraying coil cleaner into their evaporator coils. I know it's probably sealed on our cars no? Some drill a small hole into the box and spray the stuff in then seal it back up. Thinking maybe I can do that.
Is it behind the glove box? When I changed the cabin filter I didn't even bother to look.
I have tried spraying Lysol into the outside air intake, turning the heater on, etc. which only works for a day or 2 so the coil has to be full of gunk pretty good. Thankfully I get ice cold air.
