Please help. I'm going to attempt attaching a clip with the noise my car is making. It sounds like power steering pump but I have great steering and it does not bog down when i turn the steering wheel. It goes in all gears and no acceleration loss while driving. I'm a girl but I do most repairs myself with the help of threads. I can do anything a man can but do need some advise and direction. The mean comments don't bother me so if it makes you feel superior.. bring them on.... Just saying . All information is absorbed and greatly appreciated in advance! New video by Sherri Ann Bliss

Hello,

It's hard to tell from that video clip because the clip is so short. Have you tried taking the serpentine belt off and running the engine for a short time to see if the noise goes away? Obviously, you don't want to drive the car with the belt off; just run the engine for a few seconds to see if the noise goes away.

First took off the AC belt and it still made noise. Took the other one off and it sounds great. What should I do next? It has 125k miles on it. I just replaced the valve cover gaskets and valve covers which was easy. The power steering doesn't make any noise when turning the steering wheel. I have had those go out before but it sounds exactly the same.

Well you narrowed it down to be either the power steering pump or the alternator. Since you got that belt off, spin the power steering pump pulley and the alternator pulley by hand for any noise. Hopefully one of them will make the noise when you spin the pulleys by hand otherwise it's like flipping the coin; which one to replace. I would choose replacing the alternator. Good luck!

Thank you for the information. I'm tackling it tomorrow.
Any luck with your a.c. ? Definitely looks like the clutch for your a.c. pump. You can either replace the a.c. as a whole all together or you can definitely just replace the clutch on the pump itself. but from the looks of your videos maybe a whole new pump all together. But it's really up too you. And very fascinated by you being a female an doing your own auto work. I do all my own work as well an currently did my own a.c. repair recently. But good job keep up that good work Ms .

I did replace the ac pump but I got the replacement from wrecking yard. The ac doesn't work but the pully is good.. lol... I will return it to the wrecking yard for another one as I bought the 30 day warranty. Now that I have done the job once it is pretty easy. If you have the funds to buy new.. that's the way to go!!!

Did you also vacuum your ac system. As one of the steps of replacing and adding freon to recharge your ac system?
OMG!! NO! No wonder it doesn't work! It clicked on when I first installed but not now. At least the pully is turning though. I have another new winding sound when accelerating. Car has 130k miles and seems like everything is needing to be replaced.

Yup I've attempted to replace freon before with out vacuuming the system. An it doesn't work. But for the whining noise. Could look into your idler pulley the pulley that is just there spinning. (The pulley you have to adjust to tighten the belt). That pulley is on a bearing style as well. If it doesn't spin freely then that could be bad as well or. We didn't tight the belt enough, so when you accelerate the belt slips an makes a whining noise.
