i own 06 altima 2.5s
i noticed today on the freeway that above 75+mph,
feels like the back of the car wobbles. as if im going to lose control.

Including me, there were 4 ppl sitting in the car, 2front/back.
the steering wheel does not shake when the car wobbles...
my tires are NOT flat.. all of the pressure psi are all the same. the road is pretty smooth, and i can tell what is wobbling vs. road vibration

well.. i have been doing some donuts out in the rain a few times..
iduno.. WTF is going on. Mileage on car/tires is 4300 so far. someobdy help. :crying:

Happend to me, I had to take it to the tireshop to get it balanced, one of the initial weights from the left rear tire fell off somehow. Hopefully that would prob solve ur prob with the wabbles :dunno:

ehh. ebraking it and sh*t. for those who said its bad wheel balance. is it possible? because my car is brand new. o_o

Doing donuts isn't good for your tires, wet roads or not. Take it to a tire shop, get everything rebalanced and rotated (or have Nissan replace the tires, and have them balance it perfectly - a lot of places just get it "close", which isn't good enough for me - and rotate the wheels. Also, remember you do drive a slab-sided tank of a sedan, so its high speed manners aren't likely to be perfect.

Did you ever figure out the wobble issue?

This past Sunday I was on the highway and I was going about 65mph and my car started to wobble left to right, and felt like I was going to loose control of the car. As this happened the steering wheel stayed straight and didn't shake. The road surface was smooth. I checked the air in the tires and all tired were at the correct psi.

About 6 months ago I had the shocks/struts replaced and an alignment was done.

Ever since Sunday, my car seems to be doing the wobble at higher speeds (40+ mph). Weird thing is that it doesn't constantly wobble, only once in awhile but has been happening at least once or twice when I drive to and from work.

Any ideas? I am guessing that maybe a wheel weight fell off?

Possibly tie rod ends are bad, but my guess would be balance. When I had my 03 2.5S it was all over the road with the OEM Conties. I took them off and got the next size up Pirellis and had them road force balanced. It took 2 balance jobs, because one of the Pirellis was bad from the factory, which they then replaced. It drove like the smoothest car I've ever driven afterwards. Only problem then was warped discs, but they only wobbled the front when braking. My 06 3.5SE hasn't ever caused me any problems with this. I've still got the OEM Turanzas at almost 40,000 miles and no wobbles. Got to replace them soon, though. Both my Altimas seemed to be very sensitive to making sure the tire pressures are correct. A 2 or 3 pound difference seems to make them have trouble. I run 35 psi in all 4.

No, it's not the floaty feeling at higher speeds, where it feels like a boat. My issue is a noticeable wobble/shimmy from side to side when I hit higher speeds. If I don't let off the gas, it gets worse and gives me the feeling of loosing control. Weird thing is, it doesn't happen everytime I hit higher speeds.

My tires are about 2 years old [Avon Tech M550's A/S]

I just did some searching and the wobbling could also be caused by a damaged or broken Tire Belt.

I have no wobbling issues either and my tires are out of balance and the rear tires are two different brands (previous owner:crazy:). I topped the thing out once (140+) and other than the rediculously light steering at high speeds, it felt solid as a rock. Its on eibachs.

I have an SE R and it's very stable at high speed but still gets pushed around pretty good in strong winds.

If it's not a floaty feeling you're experiencing then it could be a broken tire belt. I had a similar problem when I had 2 sets of different tire brands on my old G35. It was downright scary at high speeds until I changed them out with the same tires on all four corners. So it sounds like it's something to do with your tires.

Its may be the rack! I had the same problem and replacing the inner and outer tie rods was not the trick. I did find out though how to check and see if you have the same problem. Remove your wheel and tire, pop up/off the outer tie rod (do not unscrew just remove from the bearing assenbly) and just let it hang down, remove the clamp holding the boot on the rack side, pull the accordian/boot toward you as far as you can till its almost inside out, put a wrench on the inner tie rod ball/screw and push it in a downward direction. If it moves easily (like mine did) the rack is toast. I will be posting HOW TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION this month.

Okay, I finally figured out the problem. Nissan had a Pot Hole Special for $99.99 going on which included...

*Balance All 4 Tires
*Alignment
*Rotate tires

and it SOLVED my wobble issue! I spoke to the tech that worked on my car and he said my back left wheel was totally off alignment and facing a little out to the left. My car is back to normal and driving well. He did mention that I would need to replace the steering column/rack, but not for awhile.

This was well worth the $100!
