Hey Guys,

I have a 2013 Nissan Altima S, 2.4. I need to replace my cabin air filter and got an estimate of 90$ from dealership.

I was just wondering how difficult it is to do it yourself. Any video, pics or information helps.

thanks

Cabin Air Filter Replaced

I just did this today on my 2011 Altima. While it was a PITA, it's worth doing yourself rather than paying the dealerships a ridiculous amount of money. Here's a video: 2007-2012 Nissan Altima Cabin Air Filter Replacement - YouTube

My car has 48k miles on it and this was the first time it's been replaced. It needed it badly as it was very dirty.

I took pictures of the old filter, but I can't figure out how to insert them in this post. The insert image button doesn't do anything.

Basic steps are:
  1. Empty glove box
  2. Remove 6 phillips screws in glove box
  3. Pull glove box out and disconnect two wires
  4. Remove the filter compartment cover (push up on the bottom clip/lever)
  5. Pull the old filter out (I used needle nose pliers)
  6. Push the new filter in (this is the hardest part because the opening is roughly three inches smaller than the height of the filter so you have to squeeze it to get it in and your working in an extremely tight area with limited visibility).
  7. Put the compartment cover back, an do the rest in reverse.

Changing Cabin Filter in 2013 Nissan Altima

Yeah, Even I thought that this is a good DIY rather than paying to the Dealership. The good news is Nissan made it even easier to change it in 2013 Models. You dont have to remove the glove compartment to reach the cabin air filter. All you need to do is to reach behind the glove compartment and the center compartment and you will find the slot.

If needed I can post an video for the same.
