Everyone who has blown your MAF sound off

Hi there I just want to get an idea how many people on this web forum have blown there MAF, Also how many have blown the replacement bosch MAF. :(

Edited by Altimat:

I have added a poll. Lets see if we can narrow down how common it actually is, and if aftermarket intakes seem to contribute to the problem.

I will have to simplify the poll to some extent so this doesn't become overly complicated. For example I will not count those of you that have had multiple failures, or differentiate between K&N and other filters, but feel free to post any other pertinent details in this thread.

Owned since 10/01, zero MAF failures, WAI and everything else (including headers) since almost the minute they came out, 35K. Everyone who has had a failure will post, but those who have not probably won't. I'll start a poll and stick it for a while. As pervasive as this problem seems to be, I doubt its more than a 1/100 failure rate, but lets see.

blown 2 about 3 months apart . frankencar/ apexi . i now have the bosch w/ my stock shit box back on. i miss my intake!!!!!!!!!!!!
I left my frankencar mid-pipe on with the stock air box. I also removed all of the resonators and the front air scoop and put a K&N filter in. Not quite the same as the whole frankencar with apexi setup but still a nice little gain and it still sounds good.

Not that I know of dude....I'm a mechanic and I see alot of Nissan maf failures, can't really attribute it to being modified or bone stock....they just take a shit on random occasions.....doesn't seem to be a trend either way.....although, Nissan dealer won't warranty a maf if it got a k@n filter in it....apparently had something to do with the filter oil contaminating sensor....they also make u get a new Nissan filter when replacing said defective unit....otherwise no warranty replacement next time......I just attribute it to poor design......not many other cars have this issue like Nissan. Except maybe the old Ford hot wire meters of the mid 90's....

MAF Failure after driving 5k with the Injen Intake & Apexi Filter.

2002 Altima with 22680-8J000

Looked around for any 2003 - 2005 MAF but only could find 02's with 22680-8J000

I did find a 2004 Maxima MAF that it is labelled 22680-CA000

Thinking of buying it and giving it a try.

I did notice in another thread that the 22680-CA000 is also from 05 altimas. I am wondering if the junk yard mixed up the part they removed when they listed it as being from a maxima.

Any Suggestions?
