OKAY so I finally installed my ebay catch can. I used its bracket and hoseclamps to mount it. The 2 10mm screws that screw down the spark plug loom screwed all the way through where I wanted to mount it. I used one of them. I believe it's a mount for the old engine cover. I also installed a new PCV valve, and reversed my PCV bung (thanks Philli for the idea) on the upper intake manifold. Used all new fuel hose for the install. Here's some pics.. any questions ask. Also, I still plan on routing it to the exhaust one day! Maybe when my car is more serious. The only problem is that it hits the hood when I close it.. It's been pushing in that soft layer of hood liner. I'm gunna have to find a shorter can.

You can put it anywhere.. Since I've already installed, and I want the shortest amount of hose for the PCV gasses to travel, I'm gunna keep it where it's at.

The negative battery terminal cap came with the new negative battery cable I got from Autozone.. It was just a Duralast one. It goes straight to the OEM spot on either the motor or trans, I can't remember. If you look closely at the full engine bay pic, it also has a second small gauge wire that you have to crimp another wire into in order to run it. You can see it come out from under my filter and just mounted randomly to the side of the bay.

Cool. Do it! I finished mine right there in the Autozone parking lot after buying a few extra hose clamps and a 23mm wrench cause I didn't have one, and that's what size the PCV valve was. Took like 10 mins, tops, honestly.. replacing the valve, routing/cutting new hose, mounting & clamps, reversal of IM bung.. bam. You would have a different route obviously, but make it a to-do for this weekend!

Well originally. I had a big project, and this was gonna go on the now (RIP) 02. Yeah im talking obx headers, nwp intake spacers, and a nwp block off plate. All in one shot. But now that i have an 06. I have to rethink of how, or what im gonna do with the o2 senors. So i dont get any ses/cel issues.

Who told you it was unnecessary? Nice job on finally getting it installed, I kind of forgot you had that since it has been so long since you bought it ;) Interested to see how much if any oil/residue ends up in the catch can after a week or two. Did you leave it empty inside or did you add some steel wool like some people do?

It's not necessary either.. but I could def tell by the oil stains in my lower intake manifold the first time I took it off that our PCV system works. I just got the PCV valve from my local Nissan.. like $10 maybe? Iono I bought it forever ago and never installed until now.

I didn't add any steel wool.. Didn't even think about it. Is it worth it? It helps trap the oil?

Yeah it helps trap/filter the oil vapors/gases. I would sandwich it between some screen mesh and just replace the steel wool every oil change when you empty out the can.

Heres my catch can setup. Basically the same with the husky air tools oil catch insead. And yes, the QR's produce plenty of oil. I dump mine about once every two weeks. I also used hose from a clothes washer fill hose because they are red. I had to line them with 3/8 aluminum tubing because the hose was collapsing. Now it's working great. I also cut the original hose and put in a 3/8 barb to barb at the pcv and flipped my IM bung.

does it really matter how long the hoses are running to the can?...im thinking about mountig one to the battery cover

I would think you'd loose a certain amount of draw as you get longer hose length. That's why I tried to keep my length to a minimum. I saw where you posted about the PCV, did you have any questions about that? The valve just unscrews at the rear of the valve cover with a 23mm wrench, and the mount on the upper IM is just 2 10mm screws to take it out. I just unscrewed it and reversed/flipped it.

yea i guess so...and i did have a question but then i realized that u dont really need to mess with the pcv to hook up a catch can lol

I know this is a little off topic, but how do you remove the PCV valve on the 2.5L? I did remove the one bolt for the bracket (harness bracket) and thought that would give me more room to work with. However, it is still a tight space to get a wrench to and remove the hose.

Any tricks?

PM replied, but I thought I'd post here since you asked the same question, and to help others. Look at this pic. All I did was loosen the 2 10mm bolts holding down the spark plug loom, unplugged the spark plug wires, and moved them out of the way. Then the valve is sittin right there in front of ya. Takes a 23mm wrench. If it's tightened to a point to where you can't fit a wrench between the tight walls of the valvecover around it because it's kinda recessed, then you may need to get a 23mm deep socket and loosen it that way.
