very interesting observation.

I'm in Thailand where we only have the Nissan Teana, which corresponds maybe more to the Maxima in the US.
My 2010 Teana J32 Service manual also states Nissan PSF or equivalent*
* Dexron VI type ATF can be used

I may have a leak, so was checking to buy Nissan PSF in case of emergency, but only seem to find Nissan PSF II... is that an improved version or a different product?
or should I buy any Dexron VI brand?

(I've read on another forum somebody received ATF from his Nissan dealer as they didn't stock PSF. My maintenance bill didn't show any Nissan PSF being charged, so either they didn't need to top it off, or they're also using ATF... after 1 week it's still at Max level when hot... keeping an eye on it...)

Google search:
999MP-AG000P PSF - 12 oz (354ml) (USA)
999MP-AG200P PSF II - 12 oz (354ml) (USA)
KLF5000005 PSF II - 0.5L (Thailand)
KE909-99931 PSF - 1L (Russia - EU?)
KLF50-00001 PSF - 1L (Japan)
KLF52-00001 PSF - 1L (Japan)
KLF52-00004 PSF - 4L

so they do make a difference between Nissan PSF and PSF II...
