It's been 10months since my last oil change (mobile1 5w50). I don't drive much because my work is just 4km from my house. Since then I probably only did about 4000km. However lately my oil dash light started to come on frequently. I usually like changing my oil every 12months in my vehicles so I just figured I go and change my oil at that time. While draining it my mechanic commented that I was very low on oil which took me by surprise. I never had a car that actually burned that much oil, especially one that's only 5yrs old. I'm going to be much more carefull at checking my oil level but could have this been the cause of a broken downpipe? I changed my downpipe at the same time as the oil change because my flex hose broke. I hope that was at fault otherwise I'm wondering what else it could be.
