Oh, my bad. I have an 06 SER, and this forum is the closest to a discussion to the Bully Dog. I'm tempted to buy it when I get my tax returns. I emailed them yesterday asking if they have a dyno or something to back up their claims for a Nissan Altima in the date range they sell these at , and I haven't heard back.

I think you can actually test these out, because if you look at the dealers part, they have X's over which dealers have a try it before you buy it like someone mentioned in a previous post. I may go take a look at one of these shops and try my luck.

for all you long island guys who want to get on this group buy (if there is any in here) there is a "try it before you buy it" center in islip terrace called Carleton Citgo, I will be going there probably friday to try it out!!

yea thats wat im going to do but i have to wait till i get new tires on my summer rims.....prob april but ill prob get this down the road wen i have the money i gotta do my rims n tires first

hey just called up the two companies on long island that did it and one doesn't do it anymore and the other doesn't have the update for the "try it before you buy it" he said once he gets it he will call me up to let me know when i can come down and try it

just sent mine back it would not work on my 05,it did let me do a 2 degree advance.I did get stuck paying shipping both ways.they say it will not work on some 05.

I finally got an email back from someone at Bully Dog. Now, I don't know if this is for my 06 SER but...

We do not have the dyno graphs for the Altima at the moment, i can tell you that the pup will give you roughly 25hp and 40flbs for torque with the 3.5L engine, which is more than you would get on the Titan.

Then I emailed him back;
Thank you for emailing me back. Now if I were to buy the Nissan unit from other websites and dealers, is your 30 day guarantee still in effect? Also on the 25hp gain, that's not to the wheels is it? Thanks again for emailing me back.

Then his reply;

The money back guarantee is from Bully Dog, if you buy from other dealers or websites they may or may not offer it, I would advise checking in advance to make sure.

As to the other question, all of our readings are taken at the wheels, not the fly. We feel that this gives a more true reading as a lot of power can be lost in the transmission.

Uh, I'm not going to fork out $450 with those kind of claims without some kind of backup like a dyno. Give me some concrete evidence first and then I would definitely buy this. If they claim to have readings, why don't they share them with us? Until then, no way.

wow....25hp and 40ft lbs to the wheels is an amazing claim, although somewhat unbelievable.

I am an astronaut and I am sending this message from the space station:)

^^LOL,

I thought bullydog was legit. I am not sure why are they pulling those figures out of their asses. There is no way a TUNE will give you that kind of gains.

I lost faith in them, when the best answer I could get about the product was that it "adjusts internal engine components". I prodded and asked a bunch of questions about it, but I couldn't get an answer, like it is a big secret what it does. Even technosquare states on their website what they will do to your ecu....look around the bullydog website, you can't find ANY useful info about the programmer, just a vague list of what it does. I mean, hell, you get a better explanation of a product from the tornado website. See below and compare the two:

TORNADO Air Management Systems :: More Power! More Mileage!
Bully Dog - Power Pup Gas Nissan 05-09 - 44590 - Downloader for your Nissan Titan, Armada or Infiniti Qx56

lol at comparing Bully Dog to the Tornado, and it seems like they could be compared. If they claim to have gains like that, make it public like the Titan dyno, if that is a real chart anyways. I call bullshit on a 25WHP increase just from a tuning controller, not to mention a 40lb increase in torque. These are LOLCLAIMS.

Look guys, what I would personally do, especially with the 30 day guarantee, is get the thing and go to a dyno and then prove the gains are nowhere near close to what they are claiming. They will attempt to question your results by claiming it was due to environment conditions or the state of the engine, but someone will have to step up and do it. If I still had an Altima I'd be all over a test like this, I have access to a local 2WD dyno.

Basically I started questioning their claims the moment they said the Bully dog also has the ability to adjust automatic transmission parameters such as line pressure. This is, I will say it bluntly, a very questionable claim, if not an outright lie, because nobody has been able to crack the JATCO transmission control module so far.

here guys this is the cheapest site we have found, and if you type in altima you get 10 dollars off and a shirt

Bully Dog 40410

it comes out to like 340 something with shipping for me, not including the 10 dollars off

type in "Altima" for the code when you place the order and if you order now you should receive it at the end of this week or beginning of this week

i have noticed some gains overall, smoother acceleration. I have only set it to premium so far, along with advancing the timing +2, changed the rev limiter from 6375 to 6600rpm, increased the idle by 50, and increased the speedlimiter from 110mph to 160mph. I've only taken the car up to about 122mph in 5th gear just to make sure the 110mph governer was removed. While being in 5th gear at 4500rpms, the coupe wanted to keep going but I let off being that I didnt want a ticket etc. LOL. With one more gear to go, im sure I could reach 140 or so.

When I can, I plan on getting it dynoed.

This is all we have so far. I'm sure its more like 15whp not 25whp.

5 pages and no dyno runs yet. Jeez.

if i had the money i would be all over this.

i dont think many altima drivers are enthusiasts like me. maybe if i had a sponsor or something then i could get this done.

i plan on getting this module, and seeing how it runs on the car.

I don't understand your post. what are you trying to say?

Unless I see some dyno's from a member here, or when bully dog decides to grow a pair and give us some actual test results, I'm not wasting my money. Now, if someone gets a lot better gas mileage, that's always a consideration. If I see a dyno instead of some bullshit results, I will buy one for sure.

I call b/s on their claims of 25hp but even at 15hp it would be worth it imho.

Is there a dedicated board rep that is asking for a test car? wouldn't that make sense to appease us and drum up sales unless they truley believe their claims are bogus and expect us to be blind buyers...
