7/24/15 UPDATE (long story post)

WARNING THIS IS A LONG POST.
Alright guys, I'm back from the dead. A lot has happened since about half a year ago. I decided that it was time to post an update.

January 28, only six days after my last post. I was driving on the highway to work and was on the furthest left lane. Traffic was moderate but traffic speed was decent. Anyways, the Chevy Express van in front of me was slowing down and so I did too of course. As I was slowing down to maybe about five mph, I check my rear view mirrors and noticed that the Chevy Express van (yes, another freaking one) behind me was not slowing down what so ever. By the time I looked at the mirrors and realized that they were not slowing down at all, it was too late. Boom. I was hit and pushed forward into the van in front of me. I got out and was in shock. This was my first ever accident I have ever gotten in and this was the first ever accident in Amanda. I was extremely furious, disappointed, saddened. I called my father then the police and proceeded to take pictures of the incident and exchanged information with the drivers. Seeing as they were a Chevy Express van with those big steel bars in front and back of them, they had literally no damage but scuff marks. Both drivers decided to leave the scene and I was stuck waiting on the shoulder for my father and the police. Fast forward a couple days, and a couple weeks later. I will forever be grateful for these two words, full coverage. Insurance inspected the damage, deemed the car totaled and offered me the choice of fixing the car, or taking a check. The check came out to a price that I knew I would never be able to get if I ever tried selling her for. So, I decided to take the check AS WELL AS keeping the car. For those who are wondering, yes, the car is still in the garage.

Exactly one month later, after the accident, I bought my next car. But before I reveal what that is, I'll go ahead and upload the pictures of the accident.

The back took the hit pretty well, but obviously there is frame damage and the spare tire area of the trunk crumbled inwards.

After I got my next car and got all the paperwork settled. I decided that this wasn't the end for Amanda. I can rebuild her, I have the technology. And so the journey continues.

The fun began.

It was a bitch getting that hood to unlatch and come off. My buddy actually has a video of me jumping up and down on it to "reverse physics" and get the hood to open. Sure enough, it worked.

Seeing as I already have another car and most of the stuff was going bad or broke from the accident, I decided to get rid of all the "unnecessary stuff".

Image

I even pulled out the harness and hacked that up for a little bit of a wire tuck as well as tucking the relay box away.

I cannot be anymore glad and thankful that I swapped out my headlights and grille and got her in "winter mode" as well as keeping all the stock parts from her. I threw the retrofitted headlights back on, the oem horn, bought new replacement radiator, fan shroud, hoses, clamps, and of course, a carbon fiber hood (bought it for $180 new).

Image

And no, the hood is not fully shut in these pictures.

I bought a new crank seal and threw on the Unorthodox pulley I bought from BeeCee a while back.

And that is where I am at now.
She is ready for start up but I need a battery and coolant. I am still asking around different shops to see which is the best and cheapest place to get her rear end pulled and all sorted out.

Oh and for those who were curious to what wheels I bought to replace as daily, they were B16 Spec V wheels. Yes, I was going to convert to a 5 lug setup, but since the accident happened, I ditched the 5 lug idea and sold the wheels to a buddy.

Image

Instead, I came across a deal for a set of wheels that I HAD to get my hands on.

Any guesses? :brow:

Glad to see this build is still progressing. Damn work computer is keeping me from seeing the pics though!
hahaha, yeah its progressing extremely slowly... and hopefully you can get the pictures to load!

Awesome update bro!

I'm really glad you got it progressing to almost back & better than ever!!

Question, was the radiator support bent? Cause it kinda looks like it in the pics..

brody, yeahhhhhh i was tight on cash and i just bent it back to where it's almost good.... not the safest or smartest thing to do but i'm going to get a quote on replacing that after the rear gets pulled

Lol yeaaaaa, you coulda done more harm than good lol. Might of not needed to be replaced (may still not), when I hit a deer in The Alt right after it was painted it bent the support, but my painter was able to take hydrologic press tool and press it back into shape.

Hopefully all goes well!

Looking forward to seeing her fresh again.

when the **** did you hit a deer?? lol never knew that was possible. but oh well. im sure it would be easier to replace the entire support anyways. my goal is to have her street legal and completely safe before winter starts so i can drive her then and store the other beauty away lol

Lol yeaaa man back in the end of 2010, month and some change after it was fully painted. Pics are floating around on here somewhere!

Helllll nooo lol. If the OE support is fixable/salvageable, you always wanna stick with that over a replacement! It's not an easy job...fixing it (if possible) is easier, cheaper, and allows you to keep your OEM frame intact.

I hear that man! I hope it all works out ;) coming along nicely already!

no kidding! thats why you got a respray! deer are scary lol

yeah true, we'll see. I just talked to the owner of a pretty well known body shop that works on classics and exotics and he gave me a pretty decent general quote to pull the rear and fix the front so I'll see what he says monday when I get the car towed there.

thanks brotha! tryning to keep the 2nd gen's going haha
