Anybody know? I'll dig deeper into this when I get home, but I'm reading online that those trannies are far stronger than ours.. input from Asleep, Slow01, 98alti, Jserrano, anybody else?
agreedim not gonna be doing any racing in the winter, so ill tear down my '94 LSD and have its gears sent off for cryo/shot peen (just $500, worth a shot). failing that i'll see if IPT will do me a fully built manual. failing THAT.. ill revert back to auto and do a fully built auto![]()
would be so much easier if we were just RWD..
...DO IT! I smell a new project for you. Drop in a red top SR with a 240sx subframe, and graft in the strut towers from an s13. An altima to a 240sx is like humans and chimps. It's only a few genes....would be so much easier if we were just RWD..
I have one friend and one acquitance who have both used it on there cars one a 350z the other a 82 trans am, as well as a friend who is a pilot who has his equipment regularly treated. My plan is to do both due to the fact that if you thinking about the process it makes sense it would work and two I have not seen a complaint yet about it.you speaking from experience about cryo/shot peen?
My friend had his 350z's rods done and maybe the pistons but I know a place called MRC did his rods and its a daily driver with 427whp and never has he had a problem. My friend had his transmision done in his trans am we have never seen a problem but due to continual engine builds it has only been pushed a couple times. There is a good write up on crynoing somewhere online I will try and find it for you. I am thinking that you should get a decent amount more push because the molecules will be come more compact and tighter allowing for a greater amount of pressure being able to be applied.im trying to get a relative idea of how far i can push a tranny if its cryo/peened. what were they doing on their parts that were c/p?
That looks pretty good and isn't to expensive either. Eclypse do you know anything about phantom grips ? They have a spring to upgrade the stock lsd but I am not sure if I trust them.good research work, thanks for that. but quit googling and start making traction rods![]()
crazy that it's been adapted to that much stuff. im going to go with a cryo/shotpeen and possibly this: Hewland Gearbox | Jerico Transmissions | Quaife Transmission | Tilton Clutch | Racing Driveline
if that doesnt hold then ill start looking at slightly more involved options such as swapping trannies altogether such as you're saying.
Damn, but I did kind of figure that. Thanks. The guys over at maxima.org say it's called a "phantom" grip for a reason... b/c it's not there.
